ABOUT THE ARTIST

Kelli Hunter graduated from University of New South Wales, College of Fine Arts (Sydney, Australia) in 1993 completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Theory) alongside electives in Aboriginal studies.

After starting a masters in Art Conservation she deferred and sought work in marketing. She then went on to pursue a career in agency publishing and content media in London between 1999 and 2018. In 2013 Kelli returned to 'the studio' at thames-sidestudios.co.uk and undertook several private commissions.

Although primarily trained in oils, photography and a social perspective of art history Kelli now chooses to work experimentally with colour using acrylic, ink, oil and mixed media.

Trees, landscape and human forms appear in Kelli’s work -- exploring the concept of colour their relationships and emotional connections they form.

In 2018 Kelli relocated from London to Atlanta with her husband and two sons (Jude & Archie) and has since set up her studio full time in West Midtown. Her first large commission was obtained in Jan 2019 at her recent Open Studio to a private individual based in NYC.  She is now looking forward to being an active artist in her new home of Atlanta.

Recent work explores depth and light and the emotion it can play upon us.  Use of rich ink mediums feature in her work including the use of reflective lustres which are built up over multiple applications. Kelli says what inspires her most is traveling and reflection. Her recent ink works are derived from a recent summer in Mexico.
